Lab
The Laboratory was set up in 1977 (as the Chair of Building Materials with the memorius Dr. Konstantinos Sideris Presiding on its Head). The main aim of the Building Material's Laboratory is to promote research and teaching in the field of the material technology used in civil engineering works.
In the frame of its teaching and testing activity the Laboratory of Building Materials has to present work connected to:
The development and application of new materials in the field of civil engineering with the emphasis being on advanced concrete and mortars of high strength and high performance, self-compacting, fibre-reinforced, recycled material concrete, environment friendly concrete, fire-resistant concrete and special repair-work mortars.
Carrying out research connected to the use of industrial by-products in the production of special cements and concretes.
detecting the mechanical behaviour of repair-work mortars the concrete technology
The application of non-destroyable testing techniques in structuring materials and elements the effect of exposure conditions in durability of concrete and the estimation of the service life of concrete structures. Moreover, the Laboratory is able to provide special services that have to do with the estimation of the engineering qualities and lasting characteristics of structuring materials and elements.
